What no poker

Just like to say welcome again to Barry Carter and a great couple of blogs by the way Barry…well done mate. Myself and Barry have an awful lot in common, we come from the same city for a start and also write for the WPT and Pokerpro as well as the very popular Hendon Mob website.

I reckon that his blogs will be more interesting than mine as he plays live events that I dont and he has a sponsorship like myself except that his is with Victor Chandler.

I am glad that he has decided to blog for us. So what has been happening on the poker front since the last time that I posted. Well I am finding that I can now pick and choose the times that I play poker more without having the monkey of the 100k challenge on my back. I have only played once since my last blog and that was a $10-$20 game of NLH, I got into the hole to the tune of around $5000 but went on a nice run when I flopped the nuts three hands in succession and busted a player who thought that I was tilting……as if I ever would

The final result was a win of just over $100….its small but I will take it. Although to me these days, I simply do not sweat results. But I have been more active with my other great passion recently….betting exchanges. This is one thing that you will learn about me, I seek out new pastures from time to time mainly through boredom…now its time for the tip.

THE DEANS POKER TIP OF THE DAY

Limit hold’em is a very underestimated form of poker but one of the primary ways of making money in that game is by creating what is called "dead money". If it has been raised before it gets to you and you are on the button, then you basically are in a re-raise or fold situation. Calling is not part of the equation.

Re-raising places tremendous pressure on the blinds and they need a good hand to play unless they are novices. The blinds folding is what I mean by "dead money" and this can turn hands that have -EV into being positive.
