Its time to call time

Played an absolutely horrendous session last night with the Vulture at NL50 and recorded my worst ever loss of $118. Well you know the story by now, I didnt lose this money playing proper poker.

Actually this reminds me of an article that I read recently on Poker News Daily by Lee Jones on grinding. Which for those of you who dont know what this means, is the form of playing multiple tables online and earning a small profit and then waiting for the rakeback payments at the week/month end.

It isnt for everyone as Lee pointed out but this is exactly what I have been doing with the Vulture. I keep saying that I am going to stop because I have tilted badly three times in as many weeks and that simply cannot happen or be allowed to happen.

It isnt tilt as in reacting to bad beats, its a different kind of tilt where I cannot be bothered to play for low stakes with that kind of money. Playing too many tables seems to turn my mind off and then BANG……something happens and I start thinking WHAT THE HELL.

Grinding online hour after hour is tough and something that I havent done for ages. When I did grind years ago I had no other option as it was my sole income, things have changed now and I no longer have to do it and this is obviously a factor as to why my head isnt right.

So I have now definitely stopped playing eight tables but I also want to look at some other options with the Vulture as well that will only mean that I have to play four tables maximum. But like Lee Jones in the article, I am not psychologically cut out now for grinding. I can do it for a while and get away with it and this is now starting to get to be a repeating pattern.

This also highlights how people who say things like “those who can… do.. and those who cant teach” basically dont know what they are talking about. I can teach people to not only beat NL50 but for those people who learn my system, they may just have certain personal attributes that I dont have at this level and could make this work better than me one they know the theory.

Its a strange game this poker, you can play at NL2000 and be successful but you try moving down to NL50…..you dont want to do it in the same way that once you have been driving an Aston…….you sure as hell dont want to go back to a Mondeo.
