A New Sharkpool

Regular visitors to Pokersharkpool will have been surprised to see some big changes to the site. We have totally re-jigged the site so that when you log on, you are taken straight to this blog. Personally we feel that the blog is the most important part of the site (that and the e-books). Also I will be doing something that I have been threatening to do for quite some time and that is to write blog entries on a daily basis and not every 3/4 days like I am doing at the moment.

So hopefully I will be giving you something more interesting to read on a more regular basis. We also have other reasons to make these changes as well and even though Sharkpool may not look as snazzy to the eye, it will be far better for us and for you too.

I had an e-mail from someone the other day who asked me what was the most important thing that I had ever learned in poker, strangely enough someone on the Hendon Mob forum asked exactly the same thing in a recent post. I replied to him that becoming aware of Sklansky Dollars and then Galfond Dollars was a major leap forward for me in terms of my understanding of looking at poker in terms of equity and not just results.

Analysing situations using Sklansky and Galfond dollars is a great way to tell if you are beating the game. I know that I certainly wasnt last year and this is something that I have been seriously addressing this year.

Speaking of poker results, finished January ahead by $13,200. For those of you who are not aware, I only have 25% of this total as I have three backers who each have varying percentages of me. But one of my backers has been tracking my games for me as he is a serious player himself and that has helped me tremendously.

I am not complaining about winning $3300 over January, I only played 33 hours and after last year, to be honest this is a great bonus and a great start to the year. I am behind my estimated target of $250,000 for the year but I do make these stupid totals for myself. Actually I have a serious low-stakes project for 2009 but I am keeping that on ice until I perfect what I am doing.
