Just to clear things up

After reading through my last blog to you, I became aware of something that could potentially be misleading to many people and that was how I played the hand in the 25-50 game.

It may seem strange how I overbet the pot and moved in when I badly wanted a call. This is difficult to explain in words but the move was based on my feel of the player, what he likely had, what he would do with that hand and the lack of thinking time that he had and his view of me at that time.

This is what is called “table feel” or “instinct” or whatever you want to call it and is probably something that cannot be taught, it has to come to you through experience.

But that has always been the big difference between PL and NL games, knowing when to get all in as knowing this can make you a lot of money over the year when you end up getting someones entire stack and not just a piece of it.

Of course it works in reverse as well as many times I have done this only to see my opponent fold when they may have called a smaller bet. But I feel that if the correct use of the all in is utilised then it is profitable.

But talking about the differences between PL and NL, these days with the maximum buy ins online then most PL pots quickly become NL due to the smaller amounts of money on the table.

I just wanted to clear this up as it is obviously not correct to slide all in everytime that you have a powerhouse.

see you all soon
