Do as I say not as I do

The 100K Challenge went ever so briefly over the 10k mark yesterday but dropped back after a couple of beats. The bankroll now stands at $9112!! and is $303 up on my last post.

This post today is designed to tell you that although PokerTracker is a top class and vital piece of software, that you also need to be careful in how you interpret the data as well. It is very difficult for any piece of software to track players who are situationally tricky. They dont play to set ranges and many of their decisions are based on not routine but by what has happened in the session to date and what they feel that they can get away with.

This is how I play and I also keep notes on how I have been playing big pots as well. If I have bluff raised a couple of hands straight then in a 25-50 game, I figure to be playing with people who are keeping a very close eye on my game.

The next time that I make a play will be with a real hand and on my good days, they get called. I sought some help recently from a player who I respect on the Hendon Mob forum. I suspected that my game was becoming a little stale about a year or so ago and decided to adopt a much more fluid style of play that I felt would be very difficult to pin down with software.

But when you are attempting to change something that has a history of making you money then that is not easy to do. First you need to be sure that your game is stagnating and suffering and then you need to change what needs changing and insert a different but effective way to play…..this is not easy and is almost like re-inventing the wheel.

The constantly changing face of online poker causes this but if you dont change then you simply drop into the sea and perish….and I dont much like the thought of perishing.

see ya soon
