Bubble Blow

Last night was tournament night on Cake Poker with the weekly 100k event. This attracted a field of 839 players with the buy-in being $150+$12. The starting stacks are 5k and the blinds go up every 15 minutes with the blinds starting at 15-30.

A total of 130 players got paid and there was circa 125k in prize money. I got off to a great start and I get dealt aces three times during the first level including once where I flop quads. I also flop a set with pocket fours when some dude has top two pair on a 10-9-4 board (all hearts).

I got up to 27k and was actually in 8th for awhile but I made a play on the bubble which I am not happy about which you can read on the forum of The Hendon Mob and the thread is called “Tournament Poker Diary”.

I busted out in 135th place five short of the money. Not that this actually bothered me all that much as scraping into the money is not very high on my list of intentions.

But some of the play was terrible and was no wonder why some players amass such huge stacks. But anyway, it was all good fun and I cant wait for next week, cannot wait even less for the 4th December which is the £1000 main event of the big comp at the DTD which I will be playing in.

I think I could do with a break from the online games to be honest, I feel a bit like a football team who is getting a whacking in the league who then seeks solace in the cup. Overall the 25-50 games have not gone well over the past few months despite some sporadic good results.

I am down almost $100k but some of that is at PLO too. But that isnt as bad as it sounds as it is basically only 14 buy ins as 30k has gone west at 5-10 PLO which is a much more substantial loss. But I have suffered some terrible beats for huge pots including one for $14,000 when I got beat by a backdoor boat plus I had my aces up against Kings and they hit four to a flush which cost be another $10k.

I will get the money back but then again, when you allow for the fact that I was ahead by 150k over the previous six months then that kind of puts it all into perspective. I have reduced my playing hours in the 25-50 game so that will serve to prolong losing runs as well.

Anyway see ya soon
