The Merits of Software
Some people have asked me recently about the value of software like Poker Tracker and Poker Office and even HUD’s (Head Up Displays). Regular readers of my columns will be aware of some of my views on these in the past.
I have never been a big fan but the games online are getting tougher there is no doubt about that. In todays online environment, the average player needs every little bit of edge at their disposal.
It means playing when you are at your most alert, it means preferably NOT multi-tabling unless you ARE,
A. Beating one table for a very significant amount of money over a very significant amount of hours (recommend using something like STATKING to tell you what these amounts are and the number of hours that are relevant to the game that you are playing in)
B. Able to watch your opponents almost as well on the second table because your earn rate will drop on the second table and even on the first if you cannot do that.
But using PT or PO is getting more and more crucial or at least being very energetic when it comes to taking notes on your opponents is. Using software is by no means critical but I would seriously advise it.
