The Dean vs Polaris Round 3

Well I played another round of hands against Polaris again yesterday and I must say that it wasnt even a contest. At $10-$20 limit hold’em I was over $1000 ahead after 100 hands. I just have its play totally sussed after only 300 hands of play. In fact I have been so dominant against this thing that I think that I will e-mail Poker Academy next week to ask them if this is in fact the version that performed so well against Phil Laak and Ali Eslami in Canada last year. I will be gutted if I find out that this is a much weaker version and that my results do not mean an awful lot.

Still, the games have been interesting but if this is in fact the same program then this is a remarkable result for me because I haven’t really been playing heads up limit for all that long. My previous publisher Byron Jacobs really got me interested in playing this form of poker as he was doing exceptionally well at it. At the time I was doing pretty well myself albeit at NLHE 6 Max games which to be honest I find a lot more exciting than limit holdem ring games. But heads up play is a real battle where position is so critical.

In fact I would go as far as to say that you could really not consider yourself a great player unless you become prominent at this form of poker. For anyone who is interested I am currently writing a series of articles on heads up limit for the Hendon Mob and this can be seen on the articles section of their site and are currently on their home page. But you are forced to see flops in vast numbers in heads up play and I find it to be an immensely stimulating form of poker where you are in action constantly and face key decisions almost all the time which adds to your EV if you become good enough.

Well I should have news on the Poker Academy program next week so I will let you know what strength of program I have been hammering and I have been beating it badly, there is no way that this series of hands and results has been anything to do with me running well. I would say that I have run better than Polaris but not enough to justify how far ahead I am. Anyway, have a good weekend and see you next week.
