The $100,000 Question?
Well I have to say that it is like my blackjack days all over again. Anybody who has read my book “Princes of Darkness: The World of Highstakes Blackjack will be aware that I had a wealthy financial backer that funded the entire operation. At the time I had no real funds of my own and was forced to go in with it otherwise my dream of playing professional blackjack would never have got off the ground.
Well this week I was approached by a guy who was willing to put up $100,000 of his own money if I would play highstakes online poker for him on his account. But the point of the blog was that I was so touched and honoured that another individual rated my game enough to want to make a commitment of this size and never ever having seen me play…..remarkable!
But the level that a $100K bankroll would be adequate at…..well I am already playing at that level so the answer is not so clear cut these days. But $250K, well that would be a completely different story. It has always appealed to me to play poker and gamble in general without having to incur huge financial swings with ones own money and having a backer eliminates this avenue totally. In fact my entire NL game these days revolves around lowering the fluctuations even at the cost of lowering my earn rate. I want to enjoy poker and not have it pull me apart and those around me for that matter.
