Fixing what is broken
Had yet another winning session last night in the 100K Challenge and won $129. This now takes my bankroll upto $1704!!
Remember that I told you some time ago that I was seeking advice from a couple of good online players who I know on why I was struggling with the 0.50-1 games, well I have found some answers and a combination of talking to a couple of knowledgable players and looking at Pokertracker has highlighted a very serious flaw in my game.
When I saw what it was, I thought…..OH MY GOD……Carl!!!…..How could you have been so stupid, how could you have not seen what was wrong and how could you not have seen how much money you were wasting. Dont get me wrong, I have still been unlucky but I have manufactured much of my bad luck myself by playing badly.
So what has been revealed and what has been going wrong? Well, I was seriously contemplating keeping this to myself as there are many things in online poker that shoud remain confidential but on reflection, it cannot do any harm.
I have been floating too much….yeah thats right. Getting my ass kicked trying to be fancy against weak players and committing the cardinal sin. Looking back through the stats and it is blindingly obvious just how much money I have wasted.
This is one of my favourite plays in 10-20 and 25-50 but it is a very dangerous play and in fact, I have just written an artical on it for the Hendon Mob website (www.thehendonmob.com) which goes up this coming Thursday, I mean, talk about not practising what you preach.
I even remember Brunson saying in SS how his techniques dont work in low stakes games….jesus….have I been dumb. Multi-tabling makes this worse because you have less time for analysis and I must confess to not having analysed my play at all during the first month and just assumed that I would beat the game easily…..I got what I deserved.
Speaking of challenges, I am looking to start ANOTHER challenge soon and run it alongside this one back to back. Only this time, it will be public and everyone can come and see me play instead of waiting to have me tell you the results on my blog.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
