Firstly, just like to say a very warm well done indeed to the new "star" of the poker world….Norway’s answer to wonder woman…..Annette Obrestad. This young girl who eminated from online poker has just taken down the main event at the WSOPE. The £10,000 buy-in event attracted 362 players and many star names.

A cool £1,000,000 for first place and this young girl blitzed everybody. On the forums and in the card rooms, we had the usual male chauvanistic crap….most of it jealousy. From what I have heard, this kid can really play and she is aggression personified at the table.

I love it when young kids like these get up peoples noses, it always seems to stick in the throats of the older generation. It all started with Stu Ungar in 1980. When will people realise that they win on merit. I have said it before and I will say it again….there are a lot of seriously good players online. But being a woman, she was always going to take stick.

People will jump on her mistakes, hands she played badly, times that she got lucky….Jealousy plain and simple. She is only young and she will get better, she may just become one of the best tournament players in the world, that should rattle a few cages

On a personal front, mixed bag of tricks in the cash games. Strange as it may seem but my best results have been coming in PLO….jesus what a strange world. Well I am off now to watch Porto play Liverpool and then I might try and get in touch with Annette and ask her what its like to win a million quid….she might just give me a few tips.
