Simply the best

I know that I only write my blog on a two daily basis and was not due to write another until tomorrow but I am afraid that it cannot wait. Most of you who read this blog will have already heard the sad news but perhaps the greatest poker player on the planet passed on yesterday and died at the very early age of 56.

If you mention the name of David Reese to any of todays new poker players, many will not even be aware of him. Most will know him by his nickname of "Chip". David "Chip" Reese in my mind was the greatest poker player not just in the world but possibly of all time.

He did not have the big name that people like Brunson, Ivey and Hellmuth have but this is because David didn’t chase tournament victories as much as what they did. But if you asked those three people, which five players would you least like to face across the table, the name of David Reese would have been on every list.

I never met the guy but know people who have and also people who have played with him. A real gentleman and an absolute tiger on the table. But Chip had his tournament victories as well and had 3 WSOP bracelets to his name including the highly prestigeous $50,000 HORSE event at the WSOP which was regarded as the REAL world championship and a true test of poker ability.

Chip played in the biggest cash games on the planet and intimidated the biggest names on the planet….he was simply the best and the poker world shall miss him.
