Not quite Shakespeare

Well my writing avenues are expanding, as of this week, I am now writing for Part Time Poker and this makes the number of magazines and websites that I write for at six!! With the World Poker Tour, Online Poker Pro, Poker Pro Europe, Poker News, Hendon Mob website and now Part Time Poker…..I am a very busy writing bee these days but I do enjoy it so much.

My work may not be a literally masterpiece but it has still been instrumental in altering the views and opinions of millions of people world wide and that gives me a great sense of pride I can tell you.

The WSOP is nearly upon us again but I think that I have said before that I wont be going. I still have too many personal committments this side of the pond to be able to take two to three weeks away like that. But even so, I really dont relish spending a few grand playing in some crap shoot thankyou very much. But if players want to try to make a big score then fair enough but the mugs are the ones who are using their own money as many of them over there will be using someone elses in whatever capacity and poker is pretty bloody easy when it aint your money.

You see it all the time, some dude wins a tournament either live or online and then chases people to have a percentage of him and the mugs think that just because he has some title that he is the next big star and they deserve what they get to be quite frank because they are greedy bastards chasing a quick buck. A quick reality check is in order here my friends, a quick look at past bracelet winners and you will be swamped with names that you dont know and havent heard of and probably never will again.

Yet at the time, many of these people were being touted as "players"…….er…..come again. If you want to look at what the future might bring then take a look at the past and the past will reveal tons of WSOP winners who have just faded away simply becasue they got lucky. But that is what tournament poker is all about for 99.999% of the people who play them……getting lucky.

I get asked every year if I will be going to the series and upto now, I have been tempted a few times but a mixture of common sense and circumstances has prevented it. In your own front room is where the money is my friends and dont be swayed by hearing about some dude winning a million bucks over in LV. Firstly, he got immensely lucky (irrespective of who it was who won) and secondly dont expect that to be you if you get your arse over there.

Stay loose
