small ball is good
Had a short session today playing NL50 and lost $15. No big deal but I drifted off from my small ballish approach several times and probably turned what should have been a tiny win or breaking even into a tiny loss.
When I say small ball, in no way is this mimicking Daniel Negreanu’s strategy. In many situations in online play, you simply cannot play small ball with nothing else going for it. In 6-max play you must push the small edges and this leads to increased variance but this is something that can be largely avoided at FR and with a decent rakeback scheme.
Also I will be playing this challenge on Cake Poker having nothing more than the standard rake deal of 33% so dont go thinking that any profits are down to huge inflated rake payments because that simply isnt true. I will be replicating game criteria that will be identical to what any other player will be experiencing.
Played a session at 25-50 last night, got relatively unlucky and lost around $1700……should have been ahead by about $5k. Nothing really bad but my hand got overtaken three times but thats poker.
I know that I said that I wouldnt be playing any other forms of poker but I did manage to play two heads up sessions last night and recorded my best ever session win of $801…..this is massive for me considering that I hit and run all the time, won another session elsewhere for $138 so $939 proved quite fruitful and made up somewhat for the 25-50 loss.
As from next month I will be putting my heart and soul into the challenge and the only poker that wil detract from that will be the 25-50 game. No HUNLHE, limit or anything else for that matter. Havent played PLO much recently but these days I seem to be playing games that I fancy but my overall game seems more rounded now. May actually start playing PLHE as well soon as I have heard that there are more fish in that form of poker than at NLHE….have to wait and see.
Anyway…..take care and see ya soon.
