Simply the best
Just had an e-mail from David Carr who asks what the best games are to play online now.
Q…..not an easy one to answer as much of this depends on where your skill and experience lay. Holdem has got tougher simply because this is where the most players are concentrating their efforts. But despite this I still think that NL20-NL200 are more than beatable and I wouldnt be doing the challenge otherwise.
A few years back when I played SNG’s then this was a very good way to make money and all you needed was a simple strategy. But when I wrote COSST, that strategy was successful at levels upto $200+$15. But they are serious levels now and I wouldnt advise players to play any higher than $20-$30 games now using that system but it can still make money but you may need to play low to hoover up the value from the fish.
There is money in tournament poker but you need to be careful with your tournament selection processes. The tournaments on Cake Poker have tremendous value as many players play their 100k and 250k Sunday events who are satellite entrants and gold chip winners. But PLO was the game of choice for many professionals and still is but this game is also toughening up now.
It may be the case that the value could come from other less popular forms of poker like Stud/8 or Razz for example. But If I had to recommend a form of poker for a novice to learn it would still be NLHE but I would advise them not to expect to get too high and also PLO as there are more bad players at that form of poker than at NLHE.
Hope that this helps you David……take care…….Carl
