Its a question of system design
Over the years I have designed many systems from ways to beat sophisticated chess computers to beating the horses. System design has always been something of a passion of mine but I was first aroused by this topic about 10 years ago before I even got into playing poker seriously.
I read a fascinating book on financial trading that really lifted the lid on systems design for me personally and allowed me to design stuff that was effective in several fields. I even used techniques that I found in that book during the formation of my first blackjack team in 1998 and the later team in 2000.
I am using similar principles now with designing this poker system to beat (hopefully) the low-stakes NLHE games on Cake Poker. System design follows distinct paths and uses set procedures in order to find something that fits your personality and that makes it perfect for poker.
In fact designing this system may just prove to be one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done.
Still nothing to report in the 25-50 and probably wont be until my partner gets back but I did manage to win $513 last night playing heads up NLHE, I followed that up with a win of $472 playing 10-20 limit holdem. I really dont know why I played that game, I just fancied playing some 6-max limit holdem again. So $985 came my way last night which made up for the previous days bad luck.
Almost coming to the end of the first quarter of the year and it has been a very good three months and I seriously needed it after last year. I think that I am about 20k ahead although I will have to check my records but it cant be far off that total give or take a couple of thousand.
Wont be long until the intensive trial in the NL50’s and NL20’s……1st April so look out for that. I will aim to play 30k hands next month and after that I should be in a very good position to see what the situation is with regards “The Deans Pro Poker Challenge”……..thats what I have decided to call it.
I want to show that it is possible for any normal player to make a living playing poker without starting with a huge bankroll…….should be fun.
See ya soon and take care
