It must be me

Was reading some of the stuff written about me on 2+2 today and I dont half upset a lot of people without even trying. I think that its a given that anyone who writes as much as me on a technical level is going to get flak. I have written about NLHE, tournament poker, PLO, LHE, SNG’s, O8, six max, full-ring and heads up play so I suppose that some people may think that I dont know what the hell I am on about.

But listen, I dont profess to be the proverbial dogs balls at anything, in fact anyone who reads my regular blog will be more than aware of my mistakes and weaknesses. The trouble is that people who have issues and agendas and gripes dont take the time to find out the facts first. Another problem that people have with me is that I am sort of like “the invisible man” on the poker circuit.

I am simply not there, online poker is where my priorities lay and not playing live tournaments. I have a hefty work schedule these days and that leaves time for very little else. In fact my diary is so full that I will need to chop something to do the challenge. Doing the challenge will be a challenge in itself and that is before it even comes to winning money.

Played a 90 minute session today and won $24 which should have been more but at least it identified a leak. I am spewing money in situations where I have a marginal hand and the other player has a middling stack of between 40-60 big blinds. Its as if I am saying……sod it…..the pots not that big anyway and I cant get pot committed. Example…..folded to me in hijack with 10-10, I raise to $1.75 and it gets folded to BB who re-raises to $4. I call and flop comes 9-8-3 with two hearts. BB makes a pot size bet and I should have probably either called or mucked and especially when they under raised the pot pre-flop.

But I shoved all-in and lost $25 in this pot and they had KK. A lot of players who play 6-max would say that this is a natural occurence but it isnt in NL50 FR in my experience. If the stacks were deeper then I wouldnt have gotton all-in like this but there has to be a cut-off point for marginal hands and it doesnt have to be 50BB. I got it all-in again with AK and was against JJ which wasnt too bad equity wise but this was a short stacker so I should have known that AK was no good and I was lucky to have the equity that I did and could have easily been buried.

My intensive test starts tomorrow and I am going to have to address this situation quickly but luckily I spotted this rather obvious leak in time.

Take care and see you soon
