How many but the few

Someone asked me the other day how many big named players were winning money in only poker. Well I know for a candid fact that many players who have made a big name for themselves in live poker tournaments have done absolute bundles in online. In some cases we are talking seven figures here and many more are showing six figure losses.

I have just done an article for Flush Poker magazine on the underlying differences between live poker and online poker. For me the most important difference lays in how you extract information in the two environments. You must pay for information far more in online poker because you simply cannot see your opponents and this means probe betting is king and probe raising of course.

I know that I can make money at NL50 simply because these are the levels where the novices are coming in at as many of them cant be bothered to play any lower than that. Even though the average pot sizes can be tiny and it seems that the game is really screwed down, suddenly out of nowhere a player will get all in for between 50-100 big blinds with a hand that simply does not merit it.

Your Sklansky Dollars can be very high in all-in situations as long as you avoid the necessary pitfalls yourself. Which brings me onto another point and this is current poker theory, much of which is not relevant and this is why I am having to design my own system of play. My system is more or less in place or at least it is looking that way. I intend to try and finish it off this month and then start an intensive 1 month trial starting the 1st April where I am hoping to get around 30k hands in over the course of the month.

If all goes well then I will start proper on the 1st of May at NL50 full-ring multi-tabling. The goal is to get at least $1000 a month including the rakeback which is a nice 33% on Cake Poker, so get ready to watch this space.

Anyway have a good weekend and see ya soon
