I Just Love Omaha

I have to say that that there have been quite a few changes to the way that I operate this year. I have hardly played any limit hold’em compared to years gone by and I have played heads up NL for the very first time as well. But it is really strange how the mix of what I play has changed almost entirely.

I started out playing full time and playing nothing but limit hold’em and I did this for several years. Then I played SNG’s for some time and then mixed SNG’s with limit hold’em. But the two forms of poker that I play now are short handed NL hold’em and amazingly Pot Limit Omaha much to my surprise.

PLO was always a game that I was never really fond of for many years, I always hated the outdraws although they do work both ways of course. But I don’t know if it is because I have been having a very good run at it or because I have become a much better player recently but I am actually starting to really like the game the more I have come to understand its nuances and subtleties.

PLO is of course a highly complex form of poker and arguably the most complex. It is also the number one game of most professionals these days. But as NL games seem to be getting tougher then Omaha may just become my main game in the future…..who knows…..if anybody would have said that to me last year I would have thought that they needed a doctor…..what a strange world.
